Johns Hopkins University’s Master of Education in the Health Professions (MEHP) program provides clinician educators with the opportunity to transform their clinical teaching activities into educational scholarship for promotion and career advancement.

Designed and delivered by Hopkins’ faculty from medicine, nursing, public health, business, and education, this unique inter-professional 34.5 credit degree program guides faculty to approach their teaching and curriculum development as hypothesis-driven work to benefit both their careers and your department.

Currently, more than 500 MEHP fellows from the U.S. and across the globe have built their core expertise in evidence-based teaching on an adult learning and development foundation. They integrate: Instructional Strategies, Assessment and Feedback, Evidence-Based Teaching, Curriculum Development, and Educational Scholarship.

Fellows build on this a specialization in educational research or educational leadership. Each fellow develops an educator’s portfolio, a teaching tracking system, and a project with a publishable manuscript, under an assigned mentor. Graduates lead curricular initiatives, redesign programs, and publish in highly ranked health professions education journals. Numerous graduates have been tapped to lead medical education reimagining and help establish both U.S. and international medical schools both in the US and international
