Sign up for the virtual Business Training for Core Managers and Staff Workshop on Thursday, November 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. The workshop will provide an overview of the policies and procedures governing JHU School of Medicine (SOM) service centers and research core facilities, and will also cover key topics that bridge science and business.
The primary focus of the workshop is to educate managers and core staff, while also supplying useful information related to finance and compliance issues for department administrators, managers, and analysts, and will feature speakers from Cost Analysis, Procurement, Fixed Assets, Financial Research Compliance, and the Office for Faculty Research Resources. Topics include:
- Department Responsibilities
- Service Center Policies and Procedures
- Service Center Business Planning and Budgeting
- JHU Office of Procurement Services
- Equipment Purchasing / Inventory (FASSC)
- Case Study Scenarios
As a contact of one of the SOM service centers in the table below, the JHU OFRR and Office of the Vice Dean for Research are requiring attendance at this workshop by a Department Administrator (or a finance representative of the Department) and the respective core manager and staff of the core. If these representatives cannot attend the November 13 workshop, we will also be offering a workshop again in the Spring of 2026. Attendance is also open to anyone with an interest in attending. Prior to Tuesday 11/11/25, can you please email Maria Bianchi with the core staff / representatives that plan to attend the course so she can add this course to their learning plan in the MyLearning system. Please forward their names as it appears in outlook and JHED ID when sending this information. The individuals will receive notification from MyLearning to sign up for the course, and will also receive zoom information for the session.
