The 14th Annual Women in Medicine Honorary Dinner took place on May 14 at the Carriage House of the Evergreen Museum & Library. Sponsored by the DOM Task Force on Women's

Academic Careers in Medicine, this event celebrates the accomplishments of our DOM women faculty and provides an opportunity to build relationships among faculty and trainees in the DOM.
We'd like to extend our gratitude to our keynote speaker Dr. Helen Ouyang, MD, MPH, associate professor of emergency medicine at Columbia University and contributing writer for the New York Times Magazine, who engaged in a gripping fireside chat with Dr. Laura Cappelli, associate professor in the Division of Rheumatology, about some of her published work.

Susan M. MacDonald Sponsorship Awards
Finally, we'd like to highlight this year's DOM Susan M. MacDonald Sponsorship Award winners. This award recognizes DOM faculty who have demonstrated a commitment to supporting and advancing faculty and fellows by acting as a sponsor. A sponsor is a person in a leadership position who actively supports the career advancement of a more junior faculty member or trainee in whom they see career and leadership potential.
Congratulations and thank you to the 2026 awardees:
- Dan Brennan, professor in the Division of Nephrology
- Daniel Brotman, professor in the Division of Hospital Medicine at JHH
- Larissa Shimoda, professor in the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine
We'd like to thank Dr. Eva Tseng, chair of the Task Force on Women's Academic Careers in Medicine, Dr. Christina Mejia, assistant professor in the Division of Nephrology, and Charles Harris, senior administrative coordinator, for organizing this event.
