Leadership Spotlight

WELL's new monthly Leadership Spotlight aims to celebrate individuals across the Department of Medicine who make a difference through everyday leadership. Leadership is not limited to formal roles, and eligibility is open to all levels of staff, faculty, and trainees who exhibit leadership through mentorship, collaboration, inclusion, or supporting team well-being. Submit a nomination.

Dr. Pamela Corona Villalobos, research associate in the Division of Nephrology, is our inaugural recipient of the WELL Committee’s Leadership Spotlight. She works in Dr. Chirag Parikh's lab on a number of projects dedicated to developing biomarkers of kidney injury to predict acute kidney injury progression.

Here’s what colleagues had to say about her:

  • “Dr. Corona is quite literally the lifeblood of our research team and keeps our countless studies running smoothly and efficiently. She is deeply personable, dependable, and incredibly hardworking. She is also the best mentor I have ever had and constantly pushes me to challenge myself and grow as an individual.”
  • “Dr. Corona is extremely personable and makes an effort to get to know each and every one of her co-workers, no matter the level. She is a team player, someone who anticipates problems before they happen, and who approaches every obstacle with an infectious enthusiasm. I operate under the assumption that Dr. Corona always has my back, no matter the issue.”

Nurses Week

In recognition of Nurses Week, the DOM extends its deepest gratitude to each of our nurses for the extraordinary care, compassion, and expertise they bring to our patients and our teams every day. Our nursing staff's clinical judgment, vigilance, and unwavering dedication ensure that our patients receive not only the highest standard of medical care but also the dignity, comfort, and reassurance they need during some of life’s most challenging moments. They are advocates, educators, collaborators, and leaders—and their impact is felt in every corner of our Department. Thank you to all of our nursing staff!
