We are very pleased to announce that James Li, MA, has joined the Divisions of Addiction Medicine and General Internal Medicine as Division Administrator, effective September 14.
James is a seasoned leader with nearly 20 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, business analytics, budgeting, and strategic decision-making across healthcare, utilities, manufacturing, and distribution. Most recently, he served as finance director for the Baltimore Region Hospitals at MedStar Health, where he led financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and operational performance initiatives. Previously, James was Assistant Director of Capital Budgeting for Johns Hopkins Medicine, overseeing the systemwide capital budgeting process and supporting key strategic investments across the enterprise.
Before working in healthcare, James held leadership roles at BGE, W.R. Grace, and TruGreen Landcare, among others. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, he felt a strong calling to transition more fully into healthcare after witnessing the profound impact the industry has on individuals, families, and communities. James earned a master’s degree in economics from the University of Kansas and bachelor's degrees in finance and economics from the University of Illinois.
James is excited to rejoin Hopkins and contribute to the mission of advancing healthcare and improving the lives of those we serve, and we are confident his experience will serve him well in this new leadership role.
