Medicine Matters Home Administration The Move to Meyer

The Move to Meyer

After the successful renovation of the Nelson building, the hospital has been busy renovating the 7th, 8th and 9th floors of the Meyer building. In the fall of 2016, patient rooms and some offices currently housed on Halsted 2, 3 and 4 and Osler 2 will move to the Meyer building. Meyer 7 will house the acute rehab service which is currently on H3O3. Meyer 8 and 9 will have 100 percent private rooms dedicated to medicine patients. With the opening of Meyer, a new palliative care inpatient unit will also open on Meyer 9. Below is a brief outline of our plans for Meyer:

  • Meyer 8 has 24 beds and will ultimately house general medicine patients covered by hospitalists who are currently cared for on H2O2.
  • Meyer 9 has 23 beds, 11 of which will be palliative care beds and the remainder of which will be for GI patients that are currently admitted to Halsted 4.
  • With this move, all patients admitted to the Palliative Care service and all patients admitted to beds operated by the Department of Medicine will have private rooms.

Stay tuned for more information as October approaches.
