Scholarly Concentrations Mentoring Opportunity

First year Hopkins medical students in the Scholarly Concentrations (SC) course are currently seeking faculty mentors for summer research projects. Students will have seven weeks of full-time availability in the summer to work on their projects. The SOM pays them a stipend to work during those seven weeks.

Mary Catherine Beach, professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, directs the course and recommends completing both of the following steps if you are interested in signing up as a potential mentor for students:

  1. Email Michele Massa ([email protected]) and copy Mary Catherine Beach ([email protected]), telling them of your willingness to mentor students and in what types of research basic science, clinical, education, quality improvement, ethics, etc. The SC course leadership will compile a list and have it available for students.
  2. Sign up to be a mentor on the Medical Student Research Opportunities website: http://intranet.welch.jhmi.edu/insidewelch/StudentResearchOpportunity. Log in using your JHED ID. You can update your profile to include key words to describe your research interests, even if you do not have a specific project to post. If you do have specific projects in mind, you should click on the "Add Position" link on the left-hand column.
