Solomon Receives Avenir Award

Sunil Solomon, assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, recently received the Avenir Award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse in the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Avenir Award, using the French word for future, looks toward the future by supporting early stage investigators proposing highly innovative studies. Dr. Soloman’s study focuses on pinpointing cost-effective strategies to identify HIV and HCV infected drug users who are unaware of their status in the community and link them with care centers in six cities across India. The strategies proposed capitalize upon network connectedness of drug users and a targeted geospatial field based testing with delivery of results on-site.
