December was a busy month, and we are pleased to share that we have received $13,561,085 in gifts and pledges from donors toward our goal of $20,250,000.
Top commitments included:
- Dr. Richard Johns, $1,150,000 pledge for the Associate Professor in the Osler Program
- Dr. J. Mario Molina $1,150,000 pledge for Physician-Scientist Path Scholarship
- Claire Allen (in honor of her husband Dr. James C. Allen who served on the faculty in the division of Infectious Diseases from 1964-1969), $500,000 pledge for a new ID conference room
We had a reception and dinner on January 5 to recognize the Johns gift and to celebrate with Dr. Johns and his family. We also remembered Dr. Carol Johns, his late wife, who was a leader in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division. Dr. Richard Johns is the retired director of the Biomedical Engineering Department, and both he and his wife were Osler residents.
We are sorry to share that Jocabel Michel Reyes will be leaving her position as senior associate director of development on January 31. Fortunately, she will be staying at Johns Hopkins as the new advancement manager at Jhpiego. Jocabel was in the Department of Medicine for six years and did an excellent job of building relationships with faculty and donors supporting the divisions of Pulmonary & Critical Care, Endocrinology & Metabolism and Allergy & Clinical Immunology.
Do you have patients that make small annual gifts on a regular basis? They might be good candidates to make a gift in their will. Feel free to contact us about materials and language that you can share with donors as they are making their estate plans. It would be our pleasure to meet with them and thank them in advance for their support.
And, as always, please contact us with any questions about gifts or potential donors. Thanks!
