Inpatient & Ambulatory: Change to CRISP HIE InContext Launch

  • The app will open in a new window, rather than the sidebar.
  • This change reduces the lag time for InContext to load and decreases the frequency of Epic freezing while using CRISP.
  • Users can open multiple patients simultaneously. InContext will sync on the patient currently in focus in Epic.

  • These are 1-hour efficiency sessions offered by Epic in Verona, WI (not specific to Johns Hopkins Medicine). They have been very well reviewed by prior attendees.
  • CME credit is available through the University of Wisconsin.

Inpatient & Ambulatory: Notewriter Behavior Change

  • When typing in a text box or comment field in Notewriter, the information does not appear in the note at the same time that it is typed until the user clicks Accept or Enter outside of the text box.

Inpatient & Ambulatory: Surescripts to Retire Many Dispense Units

  • Surescripts will retire bottle, inhaler, and box units of measure, to name a few, and will reject medications transmitted using these units of measure.
  • When refilling medications providers receive a warning and need to select an appropriate unit.
  • This change impacts outpatient and discharge dispense units only.

Ambulatory: Influenza 2022/2023 Vaccine Season

  • The Influenza Health Maintenance topic is active. The BPA launched on September 1st for JHCP and will launch September 21st for the remainder of the health system.

  • In addition, there is a new “Influenza Vaccine Status” column that users can manually add to the Multiprovider schedule.

Ambulatory: Usability Special Updates

  • When opening Charge Capture a single list of charges expands automatically, rather than multiple lists.
  • An updated Diabetes Risk Score for Asian American Patients is calculated per the American Diabetes Association guidelines.

  • The Office of Telemedicine launches new training portal for quick access to training videos, tip sheets, and other resources to assist providers and patients.
