Bishop Named DOM Administrator

We are delighted to announce that Shannon Bishop, MBA, has accepted the position of Academic Administrator for the Department of Medicine effective October 27.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Shannon is a seasoned leader with a career in academic healthcare administration spanning over 15 years. In 2007, she began leading the implementation and management of complex, multi-disciplinary care model operations, which fostered her deep appreciation for academic healthcare administration. Throughout her career, Shannon has held key leadership roles at Johns Hopkins University including her latest role as Associate Administrator for the Divisions of Rheumatology and Bayview Internal Medicine as well as the Bayview Palliative Care Team.

Shannon graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore. A lifelong learner, she has sought opportunities to hone her experience and earned an Executive Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Management from the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. She is also an active member of the Medical Group Management Association, through which she is a key contributor in the design of curricula to help educate the next generation of healthcare leaders.

In her new role, Shannon will be responsible for focusing on academic and research objectives and the achievement of strategic goals for the DOM. She will provide oversight of our professional fee collections, credentialing and facilities operations; ensure the department meets or exceeds its annual operating target; oversee faculty recruitment processes; and advise and maintain faculty productivity and compensation plans. Her strong commitment to the academic mission and her understanding of what it takes to build and finance strong teaching, research and clinical programs will serve her well in this role. Please join us in welcoming her to the DOM leadership team.
