Antar and Melendez Receive Fisher Center Discovery Awards

The Fisher Center Discovery Program (FCDP) awards grants to Johns Hopkins faculty to facilitate clinical or translational research related to environmental infectious diseases, post-infectious conditions, and antimicrobial resistance.

Due to the continued generosity of Sherrilyn and Ken Fisher, in 2024, FCDP was able to offer four Fisher Center Discovery Awards and the first Fisher Center Impact Awards. The following members of the DOM received awards. View all of the award recipients here.

Dr. Annie Antar, assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, will study: Modeling SARS-CoV-2 Reservoirs as a Platform to Advance Long COVID Therapeutics

Dr. Johan Melendez, assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, will study: Characterizing the evolution of antimicrobial resistance in Neisseria gonorrhoeae mediated by exchange of genetic material
