JHU has selected its inaugural cohort of award recipients through the Life Sciences Research Initiative (LSRI), a major investment in innovative life sciences research designed to accelerate scientific discovery and improve health outcomes. The initiative provides $80 million annually over two years to support groundbreaking projects across a broad range of disciplines, including immunology, neuroscience, oncology, epidemiology, bioengineering, and population health.
The newly funded projects were chosen through a competitive review process and reflect JHU's commitment to advancing high-impact research with the potential to create meaningful benefits for patients and communities worldwide. The initiative was launched in 2026 with support from more than 120 alumni and friends through the University's Research Saves Lives campaign.
