Matthew Czarny, assistant professor in the Division of Cardiology, has begun seeing patients at the new Structural Heart Disease Clinic located at Bayview. His focus is on the evaluation and management of complex coronary artery disease and the minimally invasive treatment of “structural heart disease,” which includes valve problems, left atrial appendage occlusion, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and the closure of atrial septal defects. He performs transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve interventions (including mitral valve replacement and repair), left atrial appendage occlusion with the Watchman device, alcohol septal ablation, transcatheter PFO and ASD closure, and transcatheter paravalvular leak closure.
Patients do not need to be certain candidates for any heart procedure to be evaluated in Dr. Czarny’s clinic. His role is to help cardiologists, neurologists, primary care physicians and geriatricians to determine if treatment of structural heart disease is necessary, and if so, whether the best option is a transcatheter procedure or surgery. To refer a patient to Dr. Czarny’s Structural Heart Disease Clinic, please call (410) 550-9227 or email [email protected].
