Our Million Mile Smile team is raising funds for children with cancer through Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF)!
ALSF began with Alex Scott, an extraordinary little girl diagnosed with an aggressive cancer called neuroblastoma at age 4. Alex held lemonade stands in her driveway to raise money so that doctors could find cures for children with cancer. Tragically, Alex died when she was just 8 years old, but her remarkable parents, Liz and Jay Scott, continue her mission. Today, ALSF is helping to transform outcomes for children with cancer.
Our team is also dedicated to another exceptional person: Amanda Zittle, whom I had the privilege of caring for when she was just 8 years old and bravely battling leukemia. (Please see her beautiful pictures with her family on our website.) Amanda's courage, optimism, and strength continue to inspire us. Today, Amanda is 44 years old and thriving. She is working to help others with Trisomy 21.
This month, we are working to reach 1 million miles - running, walking, biking, swimming, rowing, scooting, wheel chairing, or moving anyway - all while raising funds for childhood cancer research.
