Nadia Hansel, associate professor in the Division of Pulmonary, was recently named the leader of one of five new research centers funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to improve health in communities overwhelmed by pollution and other environmental factors that contribute to health disparities.
The JHU project, funded by a $1.5 million grant, will compare urban and rural effects of poverty on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and the impact of improved dietary intake on preventing or mitigating disease progression
